Reflexology is the study, science and art of using specific touch techniques on small maps, closely resembling the shape of the human body, found on the feet, hands and outer ears.
It is a natural health approach to promote relaxation, increase circulation, and balance the body’s systems in a holistic manner. Reflexology helps to reduce the effects of stress on body and emotions.

Reflexology was discovered by three medical doctors. During the early 1900’s, American doctors, William Fitzgerald and Joe Shelby Riley, discovered an orderly arrangement of reflexes, resembling the shape of the human body, superimposed on the feet and hands.
Eunice Ingham, a physical therapist in Dr. Riley’s general practice, pioneered the development of reflexology in the 1930’s. Her method and findings has now spread around the world and her work was then continued by her nephew, Dwight Byers.
Most commonly known today is foot and hand reflexology. Although, some reflex points on the outer ears were known in Ancient China and Ancient Mediterranean countries, it was not before 1957 that Paul Nogier of France discovered a map of the human body, resembling the shape of a baby upside down in the fetal position, superimposed on the outer ears.
In the early 1980’s at the American Academy of Reflexology in Los Angeles, California, it was discovered that it is important to work with all three reflexology systems, the feet, the hands and the outer ears. It was found that working on each system was effective, and that knowing how to prioritize the work on the feet, hands, and ears, is most important for best results in eliminating pain and discomfort.
